I guess Alan hasn't seen your picture, Arnt.

It's pretty common knowledge over here, though, that all of Scandinavia is blonde and blue eyed. Certainly doesn't mean it's true, there's a lot of common knowledge here that is questionable.

Arnt's very very dark blonde!

I've never seen an oak guitar, at all, in real life, let alone play one. I think I would be more inclined to build just because it is so unusual, notwithstanding any negative properties of the wood itself!

I think the curly white oak parlor, posted above, looks truly outstanding!
Steve, that is a beautiful guitar. Did you build it?
Hi Jeff--

Am I the Steve to which that compliment was aimed?
If so, then YES, I built it!
Otherwise, no, that's an old family heirloom--my Grandad's guitar. It just might be one of the old Sears guitars that Alan spoke of.

Sorry to respond so late, I just checked back in.

Steve

P.S. Welcome aboard!

Mike, i'm just drooling here and asked my wife to hand me one long towell, i just can't stop! YAYYYYYY, Walnut for Sergio! Me thinks i'm having a WAS case here! Thanks my friend!

Hey guys, Quercus alba sounds better than just Alba alone, Alba meaning "white" in Latin, it also applies to Pines,Ash, Spruce and other woods having Alba or white color in the adjective part, just me 2 cents/gallon!

Welcome back Serge, it has not been near as fun with you gone. Stopped by today and the saws were screaming at the mill. He thought he would be down to some really nice stuff by the end of the week. I told him I would be back and I will keep you posted.

Hey, just purchased me a set of Curley Whit Oak from the Zootman, have not gotten it in yet, but looking forward to getting it. Living in White Oak, I just could not pass up getting some for a future build. On another note, I also grabbed me some of that Ambrosia Maple, the stuff the little beatle bores through and leaves that colorful trail. Got that in and it is some awsomely strange looking stuff but really pretty.

Mike

Thanks Mike, looking forward to it and to see pics of your Ambosia maple , lovely wood indeed that Steve Kinnaird has built with lately, what kind of binding/purfling scheme will you be using?

I had an old parlor with oak veneer back.

Never had time to try and put it in playing condition so I have no idea how it would have sounded!

Michael Shaw

Great looking stuff Michael, I picked up the 010 set of the White Oak from BobC as well. I have not recieved mine in yet but I am really looking forward to it.

Serge, I have not decided the appointments on the Ambrosia yet, I just continue to accumulate wood. I am thinking about some of the Tiger Myrtle for my stash as well from he Austrailian sponsor. They have some cool looking wood in the down under. It is peak season on my paying job so I have not had much shop time in the past several weeks, just keep spending money!!!!!
